Semaglutide is a GLP-1 receptor agonist — a prescription medication that mimics a hormone your body naturally produces, one involved in appetite, food intake, and blood sugar regulation. It is the active ingredient in certain FDA-approved branded medicines. Ascendra’s compounded semaglutide combines that active ingredient with vitamin B12, prepared by a licensed pharmacy for an individual patient when a licensed provider prescribes it.

Our compounded semaglutide program is a physician-guided approach to weight management: a personalized program, available in 1-month and 3-month supplies, in which an independent licensed provider reviews your medical intake, decides whether treatment is appropriate for you, and sets and adjusts your dosing. Ascendra operates the platform; the medical decisions belong to your provider.

Who this program is for

This program is for adults considering a GLP-1–based weight-management program under medical supervision. Whether you are new to GLP-1 therapy or have used it before, the intake asks about your previous GLP-1 experience so your provider can make a recommendation tailored to your individual needs. Not everyone is a candidate — your provider weighs your full medical history, current medications, and allergies, and may ask for more information, suggest a different treatment, refer you for in-person care, or decline.

How it works through Ascendra

Step 1 — Complete your medical intake. Choose the program and answer questions about your medical history, current medications and supplements, allergies, previous GLP-1 experience, and health goals. Complete and truthful answers matter — your provider’s decision is only as safe as the information behind it, and your state of residence determines whether we can treat you.

Step 2 — An independent licensed provider reviews your case. Reviews are carried out by licensed providers in the Beluga Health provider network. Depending on the program, that may involve a questionnaire, a message-based review, or a live consultation.

Step 3 — Your provider sets your dosing plan. If treatment is approved, your provider sets your starting dose and adjusts it based on your response. Standard-dosing and microdosing options may be available when clinically appropriate.

Step 4 — A licensed pharmacy ships your medication to you. Approved prescriptions go to one of our partner pharmacies, The Pharmacy Hub or WES Digital — independent licensed pharmacies that prepare, label, and dispense your medication and ship it directly to your door. Most orders arrive within a few business days of approval.

Step 5 — Follow-up through your patient portal. Your prescriptions and provider messages are kept in your patient portal. Refills are arranged there too, and each refill request is reviewed by a provider — refills do not renew automatically.

Frequently asked questions

Why does Ascendra’s semaglutide include vitamin B12?
Vitamin B12 is included to support energy. GLP-1 treatment reduces how much you eat, which can also reduce the B12 you get from food. Your provider can answer questions about the formulation during your review.

Is compounded semaglutide FDA-approved?
No. Compounded medications are not FDA-approved, and the FDA does not review them for safety, effectiveness, or quality before they are marketed. They are prepared by licensed pharmacies for individual patients when a licensed provider prescribes them.

I have used a GLP-1 before. Does that matter?
Yes — the intake asks about your previous GLP-1 experience so your provider can tailor their recommendation and dosing plan to your history rather than starting from a generic template.

What if I’m not approved?
You are not charged. Your provider may ask for more information, recommend a different treatment, refer you for in-person care, or decline treatment.

Which states do you serve?
Every U.S. state except Alaska and Hawaii. Orders placed from those states are cancelled and refunded.

Start your intake

The first step is the medical intake. It takes a few minutes, a licensed provider reviews it, and you’ll hear back either way — and you’re only charged if treatment is approved.

Treatment is prescribed only where a licensed provider determines it is appropriate after medical review. Individual results vary, and no outcome is guaranteed. Compounded medications are not FDA-approved; they are prepared by licensed pharmacies when prescribed by a licensed provider. Ascendra Wellness is a telehealth platform, not a medical practice or pharmacy — medical decisions are made by the independent licensed providers who review your case.
